According to the National Diabetes Statistics Report 34.2 million people of all ages—or 10.5% of the US population—had diabetes. 7.3 million adults aged 18 years or older who met laboratory criteria for diabetes were not aware they suffered from or did not report having diabetes. Even more heart breaking is of those were aware 21% of adults with Type 1 diabetes never checked their blood glucose, of those with insulin-treated Type 2 diabetes, 47 percent never monitored, and among those with Type 2 diabetes who were not using insulin, 76 percent never checked! These are statistics we aim to change with free education and community programs tailored to those in need. From our personal experiences as well as our zealous community outreach we realize that the deficit in correct monitoring is more often due to lack of education and resources, not defiance. Central Access Redevelopment Enterprise knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives. From our very beginning our Non-Profit Organization realized that by working together we could overcome these challenges much more efficiently, and that is why we ultimately decided to launch Central Access Redevelopment Enterprise.
